Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at West London Free School Sixth Form on Saturday 1st December!
On this page you'll find:
An introduction to the day
An overview of our mock interviews
What we're looking for
On this day, our volunteers are delivering two different types of sessions:
Mock Oxbridge admissions interviews 1-1 with students
Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) with groups of students. This is a type of interview used by an increasing number of Medical Schools, and involves students rotating around interviewers, facing a different challenge at each 5 minute station
It's set to be a great day of volunteering. It will be in a very accessible location (5 minute walk from Hammersmith Station), the students will be super engaged, and there will be a catered breakfast and lunch.
On this day we are running fundraising interviews - where students can afford to pay for their interview practice, giving you an opportunity to raise funds for a charity of your choice - and also supporting over 50 students from our access programme. You can read more about OxFizz's model here.
2. Overview of our mock interviews
Our mock interviews help students refine their interview technique ahead of their university application.
They can focus on:
The subject the student is applying for (e.g. English, Physics). In which case you will would through an exercise, article, or problem sheet with the student in your interview, or;
The students' own work - like their personal statement or a submitted essay, which you will have a chance to read beforehand
On this day we’re also running MMI interviews for students applying to Medical Schools:
Students rotate around different stations, doing quick 5 minute exercises with interviewers
These exercises focus on a range of skills - reading comprehension, data interpretation, medical ethics, calculations, role play
Interviewers come from a range of subject backgrounds, not necessarily having studied Medicine themselves
With our guidance and support, volunteers deliver interviews across a range of subjects similar to the ones they studied. First day volunteering? Be in touch to find out about training.
3. What we're looking for
We're looking for graduate volunteers across subjects to deliver interviews for this day. We are especially interested in Medicine students or graduates.
