Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us for our ‘Admissions Test Practice’ Event, on Saturday 20th July

Am I what OxFizz is looking for?
Where and when is this event happening?
1. What is this event?
We know that admissions tests have become increasingly important in applications to Oxford and Cambridge.
We’ve seen how many of able students from disadvantaged backgrounds are falling at this hurdle. These students have less knowledge of the test layout, the types of questions they can be asked, and where to find effective resources to help them with their test preparation.
We want to level the playing field - equipping these students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their potential in their admissions tests.
At this event, our volunteers will be running workshops with our students, helping them to understand their test and to practice questions in an encouraging environment.
This event is the third of OxFizz’s 2019 access programme - which is helping hundreds of high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds with their university applications.
2. What would I be doing as a volunteer?
At this event, our volunteers will be matched with students who are applying to the subject they studied at university.
You’ll be running workshops with these students, helping them prepare and practice for their admissions tests.
We’ll support you with a detailed workshop outline to work from - and you’ll choose some topics and practice questions to focus on with your students.
You’ll set some questions for students to complete in timed conditions during the event - and help students create an ‘action plan’ at the end of the day, with SMART goals to work on going forward in their application.
3. Am I what OxFizz is looking for?
We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about improving access to top universities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Most of our volunteers are recent graduates from top UK universities - but we’re interested in hearing from anyone who feels like they could help with our university access programme.
We welcome volunteers who studied a full range of university subjects - and we anticipate that they’ll be lots of demand from students for support in Medicine, Law and Economics for this event.
4. Where and when is this event happening?
The venue for this event is the King Solomon Academy in Paddington (full address: Penfold Street, Marylebone, London, NW1 6RX). This is a 3 minute walk from Edgware Road.
